Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a field of dental treatment focused on procedures that improve the outward appearance of the teeth.

People are also 38% more likely to consider them to be intelligent. At Fountain of Youth Dental , we want you to be happy with your smile. We believe that when you look your best, you feel your best. The study of orthodontics is a supplementary discipline to dental school. The training is structured to diagnose, treat, and prevent misaligned teeth and jaws. Realignment is achieved through a set of orthodontic braces. They apply enough pressure to the teeth to shift them into a more natural position.

Orthodontic care we provide

Traditional metal braces were invented around 1915. They improved upon a single metal plate design that was tied to teeth with a thread. The brackets afforded braces wearers with improved comfort as well as the freedom to eat a wider variety of foods. Today’s braces have been slowly upgraded over time to protect wearers’ mouths. They have also decreased in size to allow for a more normal appearance. Some braces are even made with nickel titanium, a metal that has a shape memory.

We take pride in our thorough orthodontics process. For metal braces, we take a mold of your teeth and design it so we can work with a full representation of your bite. We then customize and size braces just for you. Once your braces are put on, you’ll be scheduled for ongoing care and braces adjustments. Adjustments can vary and are based on how your teeth react to the braces.

Invisalign is an invisible way to straighten your teeth. Since its inception, Invisalign has improved dramatically. The process is now faster and easier than ever!

Advantages of invisalign aligners:

  • Invisible – no one will know!
  • Removable – eat your favorite foods!
  • Effective – proven to improve mild to moderate gaps and crowding!

First, a model of your current tooth alignment is digitized from the mold we take. Using Invisalign’s technology, we can determine the steps needed to correct your bite electronically. Your information is sent to the Invisalign labs. There, your customized invisible orthodontic trays are created. Treatment times vary depending on the severity of your condition, but typically last no more than two years.

We are by your side every step of the way. Fountain of Youth Dental will regularly check on the progress of your alignment and provide extra advice to ensure your success.

Our office is also proud to offer ClearCorrect invisible trays. ClearCorrect aligners are safe, effective, and affordable. They are made in Round Rock, Texas. That means you’re getting a top quality product from people you can trust at an incredible price.

ClearCorrect is one of two major providers of clear aligners and has been manufacturing clear aligners since 2006. Fountain of Youth Dental has provided happy patients with ClearCorrect for many years. They have become a reliable and trusted partner.

What to expect from orthodontics

Orthodontics is a practice that takes time to make major changes. Realigning your teeth is not a minor procedure. Your comfort is also of vital importance to us, so we’ll never force your teeth to move in ways we don’t deem necessary. Your dentist will make recommendations based on extensive training and experience.

You will have to make minor lifestyle changes to take full advantage of your treatment. Your dentist will inform you of the changes you’ll need to make to ensure complete success.

How to maintain your braces

Floss after each meal or at least twice a day. Especially with braces, there are many places that your toothbrush can miss, and the floss will reach these areas. For metal braces a floss threader is recommended to navigate around your braces safely.

Always wear your rubber bands and elastics. Just one day of not wearing the bands can cause your teeth to move. The bands can be removed when brushing your teeth and eating. Make sure that you have plenty of extras and that you are using the right size.

If your braces get damaged in any way, it is crucial that you give your orthodontist a call immediately. The sooner the damage is fixed, the less damage your teeth will sustain. You'll preserve the progress you've made with an early visit to the orthodontist.

Using soft, gentle strokes, brush your teeth after each meal. Fluoride toothpaste is okay. Use an interdental toothbrush to reach under the wires.

Avoid hard, chewy, and sticky foods, such as caramel, gum, nuts, hard candy and ice. Opt for softer foods that won’t get stuck on the wires and pull on them.
